Women's American Football

I was browsing for some midsummers day fun and found this article about women's american football at "The Local". It talks about the first ever women's world american football championships going on in Sweden right now. I had no idea American football was even of interest in Sweden, much less that the president of the international federation of american football is a Swede. The federation was founded in 1998, which might explain why I didn't know it had developed some interest in Sweden since I basically moved in 1999. The competing countries are USA, Canada, Austria, Germany, Finland and Sweden.

Swedish Paternity Leave

So I have many times talked about Swedish maternity and paternity leave and how long it is. I feel like it is a big no no for dads to take paternity leave here in the US, while in Sweden employers pretty much count on them doing so. Although I think the US maternity and paternity leave is too short, the Swedish way is an extreme to the other end. I found the article on the NY times regarding paternity leave in Sweden.

Trip to Los Angeles

We got back from out trip to LA about 2 weeks ago now I think. I am just so busy with work and every thing else I keep forgetting to post. We had a great time in the desert. LL Aunt rented us a very nice place with a pool and we finally got to meet LL's 3 month old cousin. She is such a good little baby, and so cute.

LL did really well traveling. Flying there was no problem at all for her. She was awake most of the first flight and then took a short nap during the second flight. When we got to LA we ate some lunch before hitting the road for an other 4 or 5 hours and even so LL was just hanging out in the back seat without whining to much.

On the way home we got delayed in LA for 6 hours and then had to spend the night in Dallas. LL did good the 6 hours we spent at the airport. She was mostly interested in running around looking at people. She was not able to nap at the airport. Next time we fly I am going to bring a big blanket in my carry-on so that I can put her down on the floor when she falls asleep. When we finally got on the plane she had a really hard time falling asleep. Luckily the nice lady that was sitting next to me saw an open seat in front of her and sat these so we could have the row to our selves. So when LL did fall asleep she slept until we landed (about 2 hours) in the middle seat.

It was good practice for our Sweden trip that we will take in a few weeks.
